Jacob finds himself in a bind...Chapter 10 is a great chapter to have read out loud. Reading out loud will take place a number of times during this book, so choose the first reader from among your group. Have them pre-read the chapter silently so that they will be prepared to add expression and excitement. Then sit down in a group and be read to!His food is gone. His mountain bike is stolen. He is beat up and sore, and in a country full of strange people, customs and dangers. You are about to read a very exciting part of the book. One of the biggest pleasures of literature is to be able to sit back, close your eyes and see the activity described in a book as it plays across the landscapes of your mind.There are a number of Swahili words used in Chapter 10. Listen to their proper pronunciation.Link to Worksheet # 5Chapter 11 and 12 should be read to you by your teacher.Have a class discussion about their reactions to the second paragraph on page 85. What did the class think? What could possibly be done differently if they were in Jacob's situation?Kenya is different from Canada (or any other country you are in). Print the information.During chapter 11, Jacob is telling us about his travel route. Can you find the approximate place he reached by page 87? And then further on in page 91?
