Objectives for this unit:
Language Learning builds on positive dispositions toward shared talking, reading and writing.

  • Outcomes: Students will read, listen to and talk about literature, which through its content, style or form, challenges them to grow as readers and writers.Predictions and questioning are key elements of language learning.

  • Outcomes: Predict or forecast possible results or outcomes.  Identifying and setting a purpose serves to focus reading, writing and talking experiences.

  • Outcomes: Student will develop plans or pose questions to organise their investigation of new ideas, information or experiences.   Understanding how words, phrases, sentences and whole texts are formed contributes to the ability to understand and communicate ideas.

  • Outcomes: The student will use visual cues in conduction with print to make sense of their reading.  Confidence in the ability to express ideas or viewpoints is essential to the development of communication skills.

  • Outcome: Students will celebrate the development of their ideas by publishing their writing for familiar audiences.
